Srinagar, Apr 13 (KNO): In a devastating road accident that shook Phagsoo area of District Doda, tragedy struck as six lives were abruptly cut short, and four others left battling injuries. The incident occurred on Saturday evening at Khanpura, Phagsoo area of Thathri sub-division, sending shockwaves through the community. As per the reports received by news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), a Maruti Suzuki Eco vehicle, en route from Thathri to Karhawa Phagsoo, met with a fatal accident around 7:15 PM. The vehicle, bearing registration number JK06A-3089, collided at Khanpura, resulting in the tragic demise of six individuals and causing injuries to four others. Among the deceased were Mukhtiyar Ahmed (28), Baby Girl (4), Riyaz Ahmed, Ireena Begum, Muhammad Rafi, and Noorain Fatima (8), whose lives were cut short in the blink of an eye. Meanwhile, those critically injured and referred for specialized treatment include Muhammad Amir, Baby Girl (10), Sufiyan Sheikh, and Saima Begum. Eyewitnesses recounted the immediate response of locals who rushed to the scene, initiating rescue operations and swiftly transporting the injured to the Sub-District Hospital in Thathri. Despite efforts, the severity of the situation necessitated the referral of critically injured patients to the Government Medical College in Doda. Expressing profound sorrow over the tragic incident, Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the swift recovery of the injured. He also instructed the District Administration to extend all necessary assistance to the affected individuals as per regulations. “I am deeply grieved and shocked at the tragic loss of lives and injuries resulting from the unfortunate road accident at Phagsoo, Doda today. I convey my heartfelt condolences to the members of the bereaved families and pray for the speedy recovery of the injured. I have issued instructions to the District Administration to provide all necessary assistance, as provided in rule, to the affected persons”.—(KNO)
